Women's Tennis Falls to Jacksonville State

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 decision to Jacksonville State University in a Saturday match from the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.

Final Score: Jacksonville State 5, Lipscomb 2
Location: Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center
Records: Lipscomb (5-3), Jacksonville State (5-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED
After JSU won court two to start doubles action, the Bisons' Mariia Dolzhenko and Kameliia Tytarenko (3-0) took down Lea Erenda and Ava Thomason 6-4.

However, the Gamecocks clinched the team point with a 7-5 win at the top flight.

The 1-0 lead did not last long for Jacksonville State as they moved to singles action. The top-two flights for the home team set the tone early. Dolzhennko (15-7) cruised to a straight-set victory at the No. 2 flight, 6-3, 6-0 to even the score at one-all.

On court one, Sofiia Paladi (19-5) kept her unbeaten streak alive in spring matches by taking down Polina Ramenskaja, 6-2, 6-1 to give Lipscomb the match lead, 2-1.

However, JSU's bottom of the order proved to be crucial, as they rallied to win the next four points to secure the match. Aneka Patel used a three-set victory over Deborah Dominguez Collado to claim the road victory.
