HOW IT HAPPENED
South Florida controlled the pace early, but on one of Lipscomb's first true attacks of the match,
Raphael Constant was taken down just outside the top of the box to win a dangerous set piece for the Bisons.
Tyler Stinnett stood over the kick and put a rocket over the wall. The shot banged off the bottom of the crossbar and into the back of the net for a 1-0 Lipscomb lead.
South Florida quickly leveled things with a goal in the 23' minute on a beautiful strike from nearly 30 yards out that hit off the left post and in.
The game was largely played in the midfield for the next several minutes. Lipscomb had another good look at goal in the 45' minute when
Luke Hanlon took a shot from the top of the box that forced a fingertip save, resulting in a Lipscomb corner kick. The corner kick, however, was handled by the USF defense.
Just before the half, Lipscomb was shown a red card and would play with 10 men for the remainder of the match.
The game was 1-1 at the halftime break.
After adjusting formation with 10 men, Lipscomb was sharp in the early minutes of the second half, withstanding the Bulls' pressure. In the 53' minute,
Alex Kara came up with a big save, his fourth of the night, to keep the match level at one a piece.
South Florida broke through with the go-ahead goal in the 56' minute for a 2-1 advantage.
Lipscomb responded well and got the ball moving in its attacking third with a few good chances around the 60' minute, but were ultimately unable to find the finishing moment.
South Florida took advantage of its extra man, taking control late with goals in both the 73' and 75' minutes for a 4-1 advantage.
The match ultimately ended with South Florida defeating Lipscomb 4-1.
