NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University volleyball team secured a four-set win over Seton Hall University to conclude the LUV Invitational, Sunday afternoon inside Allen Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After each team traded the first four points of the set, Seton Hall went on a quick 5-2 run after a kill and ace from Asli Subasili.
Down 7-3, the Bisons started crawling back with a 5-2 run of their own after back-to-back aces by
Ella Durham. Later, a
Berkley Mischler and
Cora ter Kuile block made it even at 12 points.
The set stayed competitive, but the Pirates made it a 20-16 lead after a Daria Safian kill. The Bisons did cut it to a 22-20 score, but three straight points by the Pirates, as they took advantage of a service and an attack error to win set one, 25-20.
Set number one showed a true back-and-forth effort, as each team hit over. 300, with the Bisons totaling 14 kills to the Pirates' 12.
Set two was more favorable for Lipscomb, as they rolled out to a 15-7 lead at the media timeout, swinging .417 with 11 kills on 24 swings with one attack error. Meanwhile, their competition had just three kills.
Coming out of the media, SHU trimmed the deficit to 23-21, but a ter Kuile kill and a Mischler block evened the match at one set win apiece thanks to Lipscomb's 25-21 victory.
In set three, between 14 ties, the set went into lingering death after a Mischler strike. From there, the teams went back-and forth. Tied at 26, a
Sydney Strenger kill and a combined block from
Brooklyn Fuchs and Strenger gave the home team the 2-1 match with a 28-26 win.
LUV totaled 18 kills in the set, including seven from Mischler and six from Strenger.
Despite Lipscomb being down 5-1 in the third set, they used an 8-4 run to even the set at nine. Ahead 20-18, a
Hallie Hendrickx ace gave the home team the momentum they needed, finishing the set on a 5-1 run to win the frame and take the contest in four sets.
For the match, the Bisons posted a .365 attack percentage, totaling 67 kills and committing just 17 errors on 137 attacks. Seton Hall only posted 40 kills, including six in the final frame.
HERD NOTES
Sophia Hudepohl surpassed 3,500 assists in the third set on Sunday, becoming the third in the program's NCAA era to achieve this milestone. She now trails Megan Elmore (3,619), who is second on the program's assist list, by 85.
KEY STATISTICS
Four Bisons posted double figures in the kill column, with three achieving 15 each:
Berkley Mischler,
Sydney Strenger and
Courtney Jones.
For Mischler, who also added five blocks, she matched a career high in kills.
Cora ter Kuile added 10 kills with four blocks, while
Kenzie Kucks added 10 digs and two aces.
Sophia Hudepohl posted 57 assists on the day, while
Ella Durham added three aces.
