The back-and-forth action continued, but Lipscomb's three-point shooting kept the Bisons narrowly in front. The pace picked up with no stoppage for several minutes, but
Mateo Esmeraldo finished at the rim for a 23-20 advantage as FGCU called a timeout with 6:16 left in the frame.
Out of the timeout, Lipscomb went scoreless until the next media timeout, but its defense also held strong to keep FGCU from doing much damage. The Eagles led 24-23 at the final media break in the second half.
The battle continued down the stretch as Lipscomb narrowly trailed 30-28 at the half.
FGCU tried to pull away in the early minutes of the second half, getting out to a 37-30 lead, but back-to-back triples from Sargiunas got Lipscomb right back in things.

In the final minute of play, FGCU forced a couple of tough shots that the Bisons were unable to convert, and pulled within a possession, 78-75, with 30.8 seconds to go. FGCU called a timeout, and Lipscomb would have the ball out of the break, with a .8 differential on the game and shot clock.

On the next possession, Lipscomb cleanly inbounded the ball, and Williams was fouled. He made both free throws to put Lipscomb ahead by five.
