NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University Baseball team saw Villanova University score six in the top of the 10th inning to defeat the Bisons in the opening game of the three-game series, 11-5, Friday night inside Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium.
Final Score: Villanova 11, Lipscomb 5 (10 innings)
Location: Nashville, Tennessee (Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium)
Records: Lipscomb (2-3), Villanova (2-2)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Villanova started the scoring right away, and they used a two-out double by Collin Quintano to get the Wildcats on the board first.
However, the Bisons responded quickly. After a lead-off triple by
Hutson Miles,
Cam Pruitt drove him home on a sac fly to make it a 1-1 affair.
In the second, following a two-out double by
Kai Holm and moving to third base on a balk,
Alejandro Ludeiro gave the home squad the 2-1 lead with an RBI single to right center.
In the seventh, the Wildcats got to
Tanner Lyne, as their batters reached base five straight times to take a 5-3 lead. However,
Jackson Lee got a lineout and a double play to get out of the jam.
After Lee tossed a 1-2-3 eighth,
Damion Kenealy Jr. pulled it even for the Bisons with his first homer of 2026, a two-run shot to left field.
In the ninth,
Brock Puckett had runners of first and second with two out, but a Carter Richey flyout ended the threat.
However, the Bisons could not counter in the bottom of the ninth with three straight strikeouts, and the contest was forced into extra innings.
In the 10th, after getting four straight walks to take a 6-5 lead, Brayden Leonard's two-run single and Quintano's three-run homer made it an 11-5 score and later the win for the Wildcats.
