HATTIESBURG, MS – Lipscomb Softball closed out play Sunday at the Southern Miss. Tournament with a 3–9 loss to UAB.
GAME: UAB 9, LIPSCOMB 3
Lipscomb struck first in the bottom of the second inning when Elizabeth Martin singled to center field, driving in Presley Rader to give the Bisons an early lead. The Bisons added on in the third as Josephine Heuberger delivered an RBI single to right field to score Briley Burns, followed by an RBI single from Brenna Sherman that brought home Chapel Cunningham and extended the lead to 3–0.
UAB responded in the top of the fifth inning, scoring two runs to cut into the deficit. The Blazers continued to build momentum later in the inning, tying the game before taking the lead with additional runs to make it 5–3.
UAB added to its advantage in the sixth inning, pushing across three more runs before tacking on another in the seventh to extend the lead to 9–3.
Lipscomb threatened early and showed consistency at the plate through the first three innings, but was unable to answer late as UAB pulled away down the stretch.

The Bisons will return to action at the Furman Tournament on Friday, February 13, opening play against Bowling Green before taking on Furman later in the day.
