Baseball Takes on Tennessee in Midweek Affair

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb University Baseball team dropped a 14-4 decision to the University of Tennessee in a midweek contest on Tuesday evening from Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Final Score: Tennessee 14, Lipscomb 4
Location: Knoxville, Tennessee (Lindsey Nelson Stadium)
Records: Lipscomb (17-20), Tennessee (27-14)

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a rough go for the Bisons to start the contest. Thanks to a couple of walks and four hits by the Vols, the home squad got out to a 6-0 lead through one inning.

Lipscomb did not go away quietly in the second, as the Bisons responded with a four-run frame. Following a Kai Holm single, he scored from first base on a deep double by Danny Ramirez

After moving to third on a groundout, Damion Kenealy Jr. brought Ramirez home with an RBI knock to center field to make it a 6-2 deficit.

Two pitches later, Hutson Miles put a charge into the ball into deep right field for the RBI triple, his third of the season, to make it a brand new ball game, trailing 6-3.

Brady Miller legged out an infield hit to drive in the fourth Lipscomb run in the inning.

Despite the Bisons putting up a zero in the bottom of the second to shut them down, the Vol offense did not last long, as they added three in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth to extend their lead to 14-4.

With the game in run-rule effect, the Bisons attempted to keep the game going, but the Volunteers escaped a seventh-inning jam to secure the win.

KEY STATISTICS
Danny Ramirez posted a perfect 3-for-3 on the night with a double and RBI.
