Duo advance to finals in consolation draw, defeating doubles teams from Navy, Colorado and Kansas State
ELM GROVE, Wis. – After dropping their first round matchup in the main doubles draw, Deborah Dominguez Collado and Mariia Dolzhenko ran the table in the consolation draw to highlight the weekend for the Bisons at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic over the weekend from Sept. 11-13.Â
DOUBLES
Lyla Messler and Kimiko Cooper from Illinois gave the Lipscomb duo fits in the opening round matchup, taking the set 6-1 to send the Bisons to the consolation draw.Â
However, the team rallied back with a dominant 7-5 break win over Navy's Grace Li and Peyton Amspacher-Philemon in the opening round of the back draw.Â
That sparked two more wins for Collado and Dolzhenko, rolling past Heidi Crncan and Louise Ternstrom of Colorado, 6-1, and a 6-2 dub in the finals against Diana Smolinska/Sabrina Balderrama.Â
SINGLES
Collado, after losing her opening round matchup to Alana Boyce of North Carolina, she used a 6-4, 6-2 win over Josefine Falster of South Florida and a 6-1, 6-1 rout of Amspacher-Philemon of Navy to advance to the semifinals of the consolation draw.Â
