Lipscomb Women’s Golf Sits Sixth After Opening Day at Bettie Lou Evans Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lipscomb Women's Golf wrapped up the opening day of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in sixth place Monday at the University Club of Kentucky.

The Bisons carded rounds of 295 and 288 to finish the first 36 holes at 583 (+7). Lipscomb improved by seven strokes in the second round and enters the final round just one shot behind fifth-place Cincinnati and 14 strokes back of Indiana and California, who are tied for third.

Ava Bankston led the Bisons through two rounds, finishing the day tied for 14th at 1-under 143. Bankston opened with a 1-under 71 before shooting an even-par 72 in the second round.

Christina Surcey provided Lipscomb's low round of the afternoon, bouncing back from a first-round 76 with a 2-under 70. Surcey enters the final round tied for 29th at 2-over 146.

Eliza Yelverton and Savannah Howell are tied for 32nd at 3-over 147. Yelverton posted rounds of 75 and 72, while Howell recorded a 73 in the opening round followed by a 74. Catherine Odom rounds out the Lipscomb lineup in a tie for 54th at 8-over 152 after rounds of 78 and 74.

Competing as an individual, Bridget Craig sits in 63rd at 11-over 155. Craig opened with a 75 before carding an 80 in round two.

Host Kentucky leads the 13-team field at 17-under 559, nine strokes ahead of second-place Penn State. The tournament is being played on the University Club of Kentucky's Big Blue Course, a par-72 layout measuring 6,291 yards.
