Lipscomb Finishes Fifth at Bettie Lou Evans Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lipscomb Women's Golf climbed one spot on the final day of competition to finish fifth out of 13 teams at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky.
The Bisons opened the tournament with rounds of 295 and 288 on Monday, entering the final round in sixth place at 7-over 583. Lipscomb's second-round 288 marked a seven-stroke improvement from its opening 18 holes.Â
Lipscomb continued its push up the leaderboard Tuesday, finishing the tournament in fifth place behind a pair of strong performances from Ava Bankston and Christina Surcey.
Bankston led the Bisons throughout the tournament, posting rounds of 71, 72 and 71 to finish tied for 12th at 2-under. She was Lipscomb's lone player to finish the tournament under par, recording two under-par rounds and an even-par second round.
Surcey followed closely behind, finishing tied for 19th at 1-over. After opening with a 4-over 76, Surcey responded with back-to-back rounds under par, carding a 2-under 70 in the second round and a 1-under 71 Tuesday.
Savannah Howell finished tied for 26th at 3-over, recording rounds of 73, 74 and an even-par 72. Eliza Yelvertonfinished tied for 32nd at 5-over following rounds of 75, 72 and 74.
Catherine Odom rounded out the Lipscomb lineup, finishing tied for 44th at 11-over. Odom improved four strokes between the first and second rounds with scores of 78 and 74 before closing with a 75.
Competing as an individual, Bridget Craig finished tied for 58th. Craig entered Tuesday at 11-over after rounds of 75 and 80 before closing the tournament with a 77.Â
