Robert Zeigler

Robert Zeigler enters his third season with the Lipscomb University Baseball program as the Pitching Coach.

He joined the Bisons staff as the Director of Player Development in August 2023 and was promoted to pitching coach a few weeks prior to the 2024 season.

"We have been so fortunate to have some of the best pitching coaches over the last several years, and Robert Zeigler will fit right into that particular group," said Coach Forehand. "Zig has done nothing but impress us since the start of the fall. He was a no-brainer to move into our full-time position. He is a hard worker, and the guys know he has the knowledge to help them develop. I'm so excited to see what's next for our staff with Zig leading the way."

He arrived in the Music City after serving as the Director of Pitching at X2 Baseball in Concord, North Carolina. While with the club, he trained roughly 400 athletes from high school to the professional ranks, focusing on throwing program design, movement efficiency/mechanical analysis and pitch design, leading to improved on-field performance.

His coaching career began at Defiance College in Ohio in 2020, where he served as an assistant coach.

Zeigler had an extensive playing career that started at the University of Kentucky, where he spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons as a Wildcat before transferring to Kent State University for two seasons. During the 2016 and 2017 campaigns with the Golden Flashes, he made 33 appearances, pitching 51.2 innings and striking out 57 batters. Compliing a 3-2 record, he recorded eight career saves and a 3.83 earned run average.

A native of Defiance, Ohio, Zeigler graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in organizational communication before moving on to complete a master's degree in sport and recreation management.
