Mattingly joined the Lipscomb staff ahead of the 2023-24 season after spending four seasons as a student manager.
He was part of the 2023-24 staff that led Lipscomb to a 20-12 season. The squad was 11-5 in the ASUN and posted a 12-2 record at home in Allen Arena. He helped guide the Bisons to a non-conference win at Florida State and a narrow defeat on the road against Arkansas. The Bisons went 2-1 at the Northern Classic in Montreal, Canada with wins over UNC Asheville and Wofford. Lipscomb was one of the best teams in the ASUN all season and boasted a 7-1 record in ASUN games at home. The team finished top-25 in the country in a number of offensive categories as one of the most efficient offenses in the nation.
