Johnson joins the Lipscomb coaching staff prior to the 2026-27 season following his recent role as an Assistant Coach at Charleston Southern University.
Johnson brings a wealth of experience to Lipscomb, having held significant roles in various basketball programs. Most recently, he served as the Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Coach at Charleston Southern from 2024 to 2026. During his tenure, Johnson was instrumental in coaching standout players such as Taje Kelly, the Big South Player of the Year, and A'lahn Sumler, who earned First Team Big South honors. His efforts helped lead Charleston Southern to achieve the best start in school history last season.
Prior to his time at Charleston Southern, Johnson held the position of Assistant Coach at Presbyterian College from 2023 to 2024, where he also served as the Co-offensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator. His coaching prowess was evident as he guided players like Kory Mincy to the Big South All-Freshmen Team and Marquis Barnett to the Second Team All-Big South.
Johnson's coaching career began at Francis Marion University as an Assistant Coach from 2018 to 2019. He then progressed to become the Director of Basketball Operations for Presbyterian College Men's Basketball from 2019 to 2021, followed by a coaching stint at Lenoir-Rhyne University from 2021 to 2023. Johnson started his journey in basketball as the Head Student Manager at Charleston Southern from 2014 to 2018.
