Laurence Thompson was named Assistant Director of Athletic Communications in November of 2022 and is entering his second season at the position. In this role, Thompson serves as the primary media contact for Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, and Baseball. He also helps to promote the department and student-athletes amongst all media platforms both locally and nationally.
Prior to Lipscomb, Thompson worked at Columbia International University (CIU) as a graduate assistant for sports information, where he served as the main media contact for women’s and men’s soccer, women’s basketball, softball, track & field, and cross country. He also managed the social media efforts for all 13 intercollegiate sports with the Rams.
Thompson is a 2021 graduate from the University of South Carolina School of Journalism and Mass Communications with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and a Sports Management cognate. He also graduated from Columbia International in 2022 with a Master of Business Administration (MBA). A native of Columbia, South Carolina, he currently resides in Nashville.
