JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Lipscomb freshman Hannah Gamage has been named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Tournament tennis team.
The Lady Bisons, making their second appearance in a row in the A-Sun tournament, advanced to the semifinals after beating Northern Kentucky 4-0 in the quarterfinals.
In the semifinals the No. 4-seeded Lady Bisons lost to No. 1 seed North Florida on its home court. North Florida beat FGCU for the conference championship Sunday.
Gamage, playing in the No. 1 spot, lost 5-7 and was ahead 1-0 when her match with Northern Kentucky was stopped as the Lady Bisons had already clinched the win. She teamed with Dani Kinnen at No. 3 doubles for an 8-2 win.
Against North Florida, a 4-0 loss for the Lady Bisons, Gamage fell 6-0, 6-1 to Esther Zuniga, the tournament MVP. In doubles play she and Kinnen lost 8-2.
Joining Gamage on the team are Elizabeth Means, FGCU; Johanna Sterkel, FGCU; Marina Cunningham, North Florida; Quetzali Vazquez, North Florida and Zuniga.
