Box Score NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb women’s basketball team celebrated seven seniors with a win on senior day Saturday afternoon as the Lady Bisons defeated Kennesaw State 69-52 at Allen Arena.
In the final regular season game in the Purple and Gold for Loren Cagle, Kennedy Potts, Loshaveon Jones, Riley Northway, Auriana Broughton, Meredith Lovelady, and an injured Laure Assena Lipscomb (11-18, 7-7) took an early lead and never looked back.
The Owls cut the lead down to single digits in both the second and third quarter, but Lipscomb held on to the lead and the win.
Cagle fittingly let the team in points, rebounds, and assists in her final regular season game as a Bison. She notched 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Sophomore Lauren Rau added nine points, three assists, and a team-high three steals.
Each of the six seniors that played score: Cagle (16), Lovelady (8), Jones (7), Northway (6), Potts (5), and Broughton (3).
QUICK HITS:
- Three Owls finished in double-figures: Alexis Poole (19), Clara Young (14), and Kamiyah Street (12).
- KSU out-rebounded Lipscomb 48-37, but the Lady Bisons won the assist battle 13-9.
- Eight Lady Bisons played 10 or more minutes. Cagle led with a team-high 37 minutes.
- Lipscomb forced 18 turnovers and gave up 11.
UP NEXT: The Lady Bisons will begin the ASUN Tournament as the No. 4 seed with a home matchup against fifth-seeded USC Upstate. The game will take place on Friday, March 2 at Allen Arena at 7 p.m.
