PONTE VERDA BEACH, Fla. - The Lipscomb women's golf team wrapped up the first day of competition at the Bubba Burger Jacksonville Classic and is currently in eighth place on the leaderboard.
The Bisons shot a 36-hole total of 609 with rounds of 307 and 302 this afternoon. Nova Southeastern leads the field at 584 (285-299).
Sophomore Emily Keeling led the Purple and Gold on the leaderboard with a solid outing. She currently is tied for 10th at 148 (76-72). Keeling's second round score of even-par, 72 is the third time she has shot even-par in her five rounds this season.
Freshman Mary Kate Smith finished two strokes behind Keeling on the leaderboard for the second best finish on the day for Lipscomb. The Melbourne, Fla. native returned to her home state and and fired rounds of 78 and 72 to sit in a tie for 17th at 150. Smith's second round score of 72 is her personal-best out of the five rounds she has played so far this season.
The Bisons will conclude play with the third and final round tomorrow.
