Women's Tennis hosts UT Martin, Western Kentucky to kick off 2021

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb women's tennis will get back on the court this weekend after having over 10 months off since shutting down the 2020 season in March due to the pandemic.

The Lady Bisons will host UT Martin at 7 p.m. Friday and Western Kentucky at 7 p.m. Saturday. Both matches will be played indoors at the Whitworth Racquet Club.

Lipscomb closed last season 3-8 in dual matches, with one of the victories coming against the Hilltoppers in shutout fashion, 4-0.

The Bisons were one of two teams to see ASUN action last season in a matchup with FGCU.

Lipscomb will be led by senior Kate Popova, who finished fourth in the ASUN at the No. 1 slot with a record of 5-6. Junior Liza Diachenko also returns for the Bisons who went 4-4 at the No. 5 singles position.

The Lady Bisons also return juniors Maddox Bandy, and Eleanor Chapman. The sophomores include Anja Trbeznik, Emma Zakordoniec and transfer Perri Howard. The lone freshman on the squad is Sasha Dobranos of Kharkov, Ukraine.
