WOMEN'S GOLF TIES FOR FIRST AT TERRIER INTERCOLLEGIATE

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Lipscomb used a record setting first day of competition, and two top-5 performances. to vault into first place and followed up with an impressive third round to earn a tie for first place at the top of the Terrier Intercollegiate.
Thompson shot 68-72-74 at the tournament and secured a tie for third place overall in the competition. The freshman carded 11 total birdies and finished third in par 4s.
Ally Williams finished in fifth place overall. She ranked first in Par 3s with a 2.83 scoring average while carding 10 birdies as well as an eagle. Williams finished one stroke over par shooting 70-73-74.
Siarra Stout finished in a tie for sixth place overall shooting 69-73-76. She carded 8 birdies and led Lipscomb with 37 pars.
As a team Lipscomb ranked first with 169 total pars while also topping the field in scoring average for par 3s and par 5s. Lipscomb golfers racked up 38 total birdies and were one of just five teams to record an eagle.
HEAD COACH JESSE LAWLEY:
"Fantastic team effort. I am so proud of my girls. Toward the back nine we let the lead slip but made five or six birdies down the stretch to tie it back up and that is how it finished. What a team effort, I just can't stress enough what it means to this program to get another win. It is the first one in a couple years. It is such a great squad to be around and just so proud to be their coach and see how much hard work they put in and to see it pay off and bring home a trophy. EKU played great. They have a great squad. It was quite a battle for three days. I am so happy to be crowned a co-champion, and we are bringing home some hardware".
