THE SHORT STORY: Despite controlling much of the match, Lipscomb Men's Soccer fell 2-0 at UNF in Jacksonville, Fla. Saturday night.
GOAL SUMMARY:
- UNF opened the scoring in the 49' minute for a 1-0 lead.
- The Ospreys doubled their lead in the 81' minute to take a 2-0 lead over the Bisons.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Both teams took several minutes to settle in as the match was played mostly in the midfield in the opening minutes.
In the 32' minute,
Hayes Wood directed the first Lipscomb shot on frame with a right-footed rocket, but the UNF keeper laid out to make the save.
After the halftime break, the Ospreys took advantage of a free kick and floated a header into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead in the 49' minute.
Lipscomb continued to have chances in its attacking third and pressured the UNF goal. In the 53' minute,
Carlo Cavalar tried to tie things up with one strike, but his volley curved just wide.
The Bisons continued to search for the equalizer earning several set piece opportunities.
Luca Naumann forced another UNF save in the 74' minute with a strike that was pushed over the crossbar by a fingertip save.
Against the run of play, UNF netted another goal on a one-on-one opportunity in the 81' minute for a 2-0 lead.
The Bisons kept its foot on the gas and continued to keep possession in its attacking third. Despite near constant pressure, the Ospreys' defense continued to hold strong and kept making saves to keep the Bisons off the board.
Lipscomb ultimately fell 2-1 on the match.
