SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Unable to overcome a big second quarter run by Utah, Lipscomb ultimately fell 105-56 Wednesday night at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Maddie Cook and
Jalyn Holcomb led the Bisons' scoring with 12-points each.
Jordan Peete added 10 points of her own with
Blythe Pearson and
Katherine Weakley both scoring six points.
The Bisons started out on the front foot, taking an early 12-8 lead on a Pearson three-pointer.
Utah, however, staged a 10-0 run to retake an 18-12 lead. Cook was finally able to stop the bleeding with a backdoor cut and finish at the rim.
The squad's traded buckets to finish the first quarter with the Utes leading 20-17.
Utah started the second quarter on fire with a 12-0 run. Lipscomb struggled offensively through the remainder of the second quarter and fell behind 51-19 at the halftime break.
Despite a 23-point fourth quarter, the Bisons were unable to overcome the first-half deficit and eventually fell 105-56.
HERD NOTES
- Casey Collier had seven assists on the night and added three points.
- Utah outshot Lipscomb 49% to 37% from the floor.
- The Utes shot 45% from behind the arc, making a team record 19-triples.
- The Bisons were out-rebounded 54-23.
