HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first half of the match saw back-and-forth action with neither side dominating possession. Both teams had chances in front of goal, but neither were able to find the back of the net.
Lipscomb's best chance of the first half came in the 40' minute when Tomas Priest settled a ball just outside the 16-yard box and launched a right-footed shot that flew just inches wide of the near post.
The Bisons came out of the halftime break firing on all cylinders and controlled the match from the second half kickoff. The breakthrough came in the 54' minute when
Hayes Wood sent a right-footed cross just outside the six-yard box. Spicer laid out to get a head on the ball and put the header inside the far post.
Just two minutes later, the Bisons added another goal for a 2-0 lead. This time Spicer made a run up the left side and passed the ball to Smith who outran his defender for a one-on-one opportunity with the keeper. He finished a right footed shot inside the far post, marking his third goal of the season.
The third goal came from Shepherd when the Bisons earned a throw-in near the corner flag in the 56' minute.
Louis Robinson launched a beautiful throw into the box to
Hayes Wood who headed the ball to the back post. Shepherd dodged around his defender and got a foot on the ball to put it in the back of the net for a 3-0 advantage.
The final goal of the match was scored in the 73' minute to mark Spicer's second multi-goal game of the season. He finished off his brace when he received a pass just past midfield with yards of space in front of him. Spicer dribbled into the box where he eluded the final Stetson defender and used his lethal left foot to beat the keeper and give Lipscomb a 4-0 lead.
Lipscomb defended well for the remainder of the match for its fourth shutout of the season to advance to the ASUN Championship Final.
