Women's Soccer Hits Road To Take On ETSU

NASHVILLE - The Lipscomb women's soccer team returns to action with its first road match of the season to take on East Tennessee State on Sunday afternoon. 

The Bisons and Buccaneers will kick off at 1 p.m. CT from Summers-Taylor Stadium with the match being broadcast on ESPN+. This will be the first match since Lipscomb's season opener, where the Bisons fell to Lee, 2-1.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT:
  • ETSU dropped its first game of the season to Marshall, 2-1 in overtime on Feb. 13. Marshall scored the golden goal in the final minute of the first overtime period.
  • Head coach Jay Yelton is in his first year at the helm of the Bucs program. He was formerly the head coach at Samford.
  • ETSU was picked to finish eighth in the preseason SoCon coaches poll.
  • The two top goal scorers from the team a year ago return in Sarah Connolly and Maegan Sours. Connolly ranks in the top-10 in scoring in program history and Sours tallied three goals and an assist in 2019.
HERD NOTES:
  • Four freshmen made their collegiate debuts versus Lee: Skye BaunAlivia CarapazzaEvee Reeder and Haley Williams
  • Three newcomers via transfer started for the Bisons in the season opener: Kelli BeilerShelby Craft and Tori Wheeler
  • Reeder scored the lone goal for the Bisons against Lee sending one into the lower left corner of the net for her first career goal.
  • Despite the loss, Lipscomb out-shot Lee by a tally of 17-5. The Bisons will look to capitalize on those opportunity come Sunday.
  • ETSU leads the all-time series versus Lipscomb 9-1. The Bisons lone win over the Bucs came in 2008 by a score of 1-0 in overtime.
  • The Bisons were picked to repeat as league champions in the preseason coaches poll. It was the second year in a row the league coaches voted Lipscomb as the preseason favorite.
  • Molly GrantKatia HangerLogan McFadden and Cami Rogers garnered preseason All-Conference honors from the league.
  • There are also plenty of new faces on the team this year. 11 of Lipscomb's 26 players are newcomers, including eight true freshmen.
