Bisons Fall to Creighton Friday Afternoon

NASHVILLE – Despite a 3-4 day for Malik Williams, Lipscomb Baseball dropped an 11-4 decision to Creighton Friday afternoon at Dugan Field.

Creighton jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second. A three-run home run increased the Bluejays' lead to 5-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.

Lipscomb began to settle in during the home half of the fourth. Back-to-back base hits by Tiger Borom and Chris Bashlor gave the Bisons some momentum. After both base runners advanced on a wild pitch, Williams blasted a double to center field that plated a run to cut the Creighton lead 5-1. The hitting was contagious as Carter Smith gave Lipscomb another lift with a single up the middle, driving Bashlor home. With heads-up base running, Williams also scored on a fielding error. The Lipscomb deficit was cut 5-3 by the end of the fourth.

The Bisons continued to put on offensive pressure but were unable to score in the fifth. Creighton then scored four more runs in the sixth and tacked on another in the eighth to increase their lead 10-3.

However, Lipscomb continued to fight and earned a run back in the bottom of the eighth. Williams lead off the inning with a single to right field and eventually made his way to third after advancing on a passed ball and a fly ball. Robbie Merced then got in on the action with an RBI single up the middle, making the score 10-4.

The Bluejays rounded out the scoring with a run in the ninth as the Bisons would ultimately fall 11-4.
