NASHVILLE - The Lipscomb women's basketball team made a strong return to the court on Saturday by defeating Stetson 58-54 in Allen Arena.
The win was the first for the Lady Bisons over Stetson at home since 2010. The win also ties the record for most consecutive wins at home in the program's Division I era with six.
Freshman Jordan Peete led the team in scoring, tying a career-high 15 points. Senior Taylor Clark added 13 points and seven rebounds in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Bisons (6-7, 3-4 ASUN) started out hot from behind the arc, hitting three three-pointers in the first quarter to take an early lead over Stetson (4-8, 2-5).
The Bisons continued to hit from all over the court in the second period, taking a 34-26 lead into the break.
Peete scored two quick buckets coming out of halftime to push Lipscomb's lead out to double-digits. Heading into the fourth quarter Lipscomb led by 10, 49-39.
Stetson went on a pair of runs of their own to cut the Lipscomb lead down to single digits, but Clark and Dorie Harrison iced the game with clutch free throws down the stretch. Harrison clinched the win with a game-saving block on a potential tying three-pointer from Stetson.
