CONWAY, S.C. – Lipscomb Men's Soccer drew 1-1 in double overtime to No. 19 Coastal Carolina Saturday afternoon. The match marked the second-consecutive result against a top-20 team on the road.

QUICK KICKS

  • The Bisons outshot the Chanticleers 15-2 and landed six of those on frame.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Coastal Carolina got on the board early with a 7' minute strike on a ball that bounced around in front of net, but the Bisons didn't panic and settled in.

In the 13' minute, Lipscomb struck back with a goal of their own. Gulden received a pass from Turner just inside the 18-yard box and slotted the ball just inside the right post with his left foot for his third goal of the season.

After the first 45' minutes, the sides were all knotted up with a goal each.

Both squad's struggled to produce much offense in the early parts of the second half, but Louis Robinson tried to get things going for the Bisons in the 51' minute with a shot towards the keeper.

The Chanticleers put on the pressure down the stretch, but Sibley and the Lipscomb defense held strong. Sibley made a pair of clutch stops in the final minutes of regulation to keep things level.

After 90' minutes wasn't enough to decide the match, the squad's headed into golden-goal overtime, but neither side got a dangerous look.

In the second overtime, both squads played with pace to try to find the winner. Lopez tried to net the golden goal with four minutes left in the overtime period with a shot on a free kick, but the strike ricocheted off the wall.

Lipscomb had a good look at goal as time was expiring, but CCU came up with the stop.

The 1-1 draw on the road with No. 19 Coastal Carolina rounded out non-conference action for the Bisons.
