Men's Tennis earns No. 2 seed in ASUN North

FLORENCE, Ala. – Three Bisons picked up two wins and six contributed as Lipscomb men's tennis defeated North Alabama 5-2 in the regular season finale for the purple and gold.

The win secures the Bisons the No. 2 seed in the ASUN Conference North Division and a home match in the first round of next week's conference tournament.

Lipscomb (8-6, 4-2 ASUN) took an early lead with its ninth doubles victory of the season, its fourth in league play.

The Bisons took a 6-4 victory at both the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, with Pedro Uribe and Jorge Ortegon manning the top line.

In singles action Lipscomb wasted little time in putting the Lions away and secured three straight victories to clinch the match win.

Senior Pablo Caffarena earned the first result on court one with a 6-2, 6-4 decision for his ninth singles victory of the season (9-4). Carlos Salas-Tulla followed up on the sixth line with a 6-2, 6-2 sweep.

Ortegon brought home the clinch point at No. 2 after battling three sets with Kyle Johnson of UNA to win 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.

Following a Lion win on court five, Uribe finished off his opponent 6-3, 6-4 at the fourth position for his team-leading 11th singles victory of the season. He enters postseason play on a 7-match win streak.
