NASHVILLE – Lipscomb dropped an 8-4 decision Saturday afternoon at Ken Dugan Field. The Bisons honored its nine seniors from both 2020 and 2021 in a pregame ceremony and
Haddon Adams was named the 2021 Ken Dugan Award recipient.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
Robbie Merced reached on a fielders' choice and advanced to third on a throwing error. He eventually scored when
Malik Williams delivered an RBI groundout.
SEMO dug in and scored four runs on five hits in the top of the second to take the lead 4-1. The Redhawks increased its lead 6-1 with two runs in the fifth.
After a scoreless sixth and seventh, Lipscomb got back on the board in the bottom of the eighth. Williams led off the inning with a single and advanced to scoring position on a wild pitch. He scored on a ground ball to cut the lead 6-2.
The Bisons added another run when senior
Jake Bryant got his first career hit and RBI to score the runner from second making it a 6-3 ballgame.
SEMO got the two runs back that they gave up in the top of the ninth for an 8-3 lead.
Lipscomb's offense came out hot in the top of the ninth when
Brian Moore tripled down the left field line to lead things off.
He scored on a sacrifice fly to cut the lead 8-4. Williams kept things alive with a two-out base knock, but the third out came before any more runs could cross home plate for a final score of 8-4.

Lipscomb will travel to Kennesaw State for the quarterfinal round of the ASUN Championship next weekend. The first game will be Friday, May 21
st.
