NASHVILLE – In its lone tuneup before next week's regular season opener, the Lipscomb volleyball team swept an exhibition match with Tennessee Tech 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-13) Friday night at Allen Arena.
The Bisons were led by senior
Logan Gish, who finished the night with a team-high 11 kills on .429 hitting. She also added five assists, five digs and a pair of blocks.
Freshman middle blocker
Anna Aubele impressed in her first match as a Bison with 10 kills and a team-high four blocks while also serving up an ace. She paced the squad, swinging .500.
Sophomore
Kamryn Bacus added eight kills on a team-high 25 attacks. Fellow sophomore
Ashleigh Albert led the offense with 23 of the team's 33 assists.
On defense,
Delaney Smith recorded a team best 12 digs from her libero position, while freshman
Libby Steinhart recorded seven.
Lipscomb outhit Tech .248 to .024 on offense and controlled nearly every statistical category on the night.
NOTES
· In total 13 Bisons saw the floor with nine playing all three sets.
· Albert recorded two of the team's four aces (Aubele,
Caroline Stogner).
· Lipscomb blocked seven balls, compared to five for the Golden Eagles.
· The Bisons committed just 15 errors on 101 swings, while forcing 21 TTU miscues on 83 attacks.
· In the opening frame, there were 14 ties and eight lead changes. The Bisons dominated from that point on, leading wire-to-wire in set two. There were just two lead changes in the final set.
UP NEXT
The Bisons open up the regular season next Friday and Saturday with a trip to Norman, Oklahoma for the OU Invite. They will match up with Houston at 3 p.m. Friday before taking on the host Sooners on Saturday at noon.
