JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Lipscomb's standout freshman Lauren Thompson once again guided her team to a strong performance as the Bisons placed third overall as a team at the Sea Beast Jacksonville Classic on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bisons started hot in the first round of competition as the team finished one stroke under par as a team for the first time in program history. Siarra Stout shot even with par in the Bisons historic first round while Ally Williams and Thompson both finished one stroke under.
Thompson and teammate Mary Kate Smith lead the team in a tie for ninth place overall as each posted a total score of 220 (+4).
Stout made her first appearance as a Bison in the 2021-22 season. The graduate student shot even with par in the first round of competition before shooting one over in the second, and four over in the third to land in a tie for 12th place overall in the tournament.
Williams secured a 17th place finish as she recorded a total score of 222 after a strong start to the tournament. Sarah Hinton finished in a tie for 31st place.
"It was a good week for the girls. I am proud of them! Finishing third always shows consistent play throughout the whole tournament." said head coach Jesse Lawley. "We had an incredible first round too. To shoot under par for the entire team for the first round in program history is incredible. Definitely something to hang your hat on as a massive positive for the entire week! We will get back to the grind later this week and look ahead to what happens in a couple of weeks in Arkansas." she added.

The team will compete in the Red Wolves classic at Sage Meadows Golf Club in Jonesboro Ark. On Monday, Oct. 11.
