Women’s Tennis Drops Two Close Matches On Opening Weekend

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 NASHVILLE – Lipscomb women's tennis began their 2021-22 regular season campaign this weekend with matches against Tarleton State and Western Kentucky. The Bisons dropped both matches this weekend, falling 5-2 to the Texans on Friday and 4-3 to the Hilltoppers on Sunday.

In Friday's match, Liza Diachenko and Sasha Dobranos earned the Bisons' first doubles victory of the season over Tarleton State, going 6-3 at the No. 2 position. The Texans took the doubles point for the match with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.

Dobranos continued her success in the singles portion of the match as she earned her second victory of the day in a 6-3, 6-3 sweep of her Texan opponent.

Liza Diachencko took her opponent on court five to three sets before the Texans finally took the point (4-6, 7-5, 10-6). Maddox Bandy claimed the Bisons' second singles victory of the match on court six in a 2-0 win over foe Natalia Komar (7-6, 6-1).

The Bisons made some changes which started a surge on Sunday, coming up with three well-earned singles points before the Hilltoppers claimed the match in a 4-3 victory.

Western Kentucky claimed the doubles point with 6-2 wins on courts one and three to begin the match.
Sasha Dobranos moved to the No. 1 position and claimed her second singles victory of the weekend in a 6-2, 6-1 win.

Liza Diachenko and Eleanor Chapman posted the Bisons' other two singles wins for the match on courts four and six respectively in three set matches with their Hilltopper opponents.
