SCORING SUMMARY
  • Lipscomb scored the opening goal of the match in the 8' minute when Hayes Wood found the back of the net.
  • Wood scored his second of the night in the 49' minute for a 2-0 Lipscomb lead.
  • Stetson cut the lead 2-1 with a goal in the 68' minute.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Lipscomb was able to put pressure on the Hatters early with Wood getting behind the defense in the 7' minute, but his shot was blocked on the goal line by a Stetson defender for a corner kick. Lipscomb took advantage of the early set piece as Noah Gulden put in service to the near post where Wood headed the ball just inside the near post for a 1-0 Bisons lead.

The Bisons had another good look in the 12' minute with a beautiful buildup from the right side. Noah Gulden put in a cross from the right side and Malachi Jones was unmarked at the back post, but he slipped as he took the shot, and it went high.

Wood had another good opportunity in the 21' minute when he was one-on-one with the Stetson keeper. He got a shot off, but the Hatters' keeper came up with another big save to keep Lipscomb at a goal.

On the counterattack, Stetson had what looked like a promising opportunity when a Hatter got behind the Lipscomb defense, but Michael Sibley charged off his line and made a big save to keep Stetson from leveling.

Jelldrik Dallmann had a chance to add to the Bisons' lead in the 18' minute when he slipped behind the defense at the back post where Wood connected with him, but the resulting shot sailed just over the crossbar and the score remained 1-0 in favor of the Bisons.

Lipscomb took a hard-fought 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

The Bisons created a chance quickly in the second half with a buildup down the right side, but Tyrese Spicer was unable to get on the end of Wood's cross and the ball trickled just wide.

In the 48' minute, Spicer flew up the left flank and was taken down just outside the box for a dangerous free kick. Noah Gulden took the kick and nearly found a head at the back post, but the ball was deflected for a Bisons corner. Luca Naumann took the corner and put an inswinger to the far post where Wood was once again waiting. His initial header was saved, but he buried the rebound for a 2-0 Lipscomb lead.
Wood nearly got his third of the night in the 63' minute when he rocketed a shot from the right side of the six-yard box to force Stetson's third save of the night.

Stetson got a goal back in the 68' minute when a free kick was deflected in by a Lipscomb defender to cut the Lipscomb lead 2-1.

Malachi Jones came in off the bench in the second half and caused havoc on the left side and nearly got on the score sheet in the 81' minute when he fired a right-footed shot that forced yet another huge save.

Stetson went down to nine men when a couple of Hatters got red cards and the Bisons grinded out the 2-1 victory to stay perfect in ASUN play.
