SCORING SUMMARY
- FGCU got on the board in the 49' minute for a 1-0 lead.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FGCU controlled much of the possession early and had a couple chances in the 9' and 17' minutes, but
Michael Sibley made a save and
Louis Robinson was in perfect position to make a goal line clearance to keep the Eagles off the board.
Lipscomb began to settle in and posses the ball more and had a good look in the 18' minute with a buildup in the attacking third, but the Bisons were caught just a step offsides to snuff out the attack.
Hayes Wood got Lipscomb's first good look at goal in the 19' minute when
Noah Gulden sent a cross into the box where Wood got a head on the ball, but the shot was collected by the FGCU keeper.
Tyrese Spicer nearly got on the board in the 32' minute when he beat the keeper to the ball on a Lipscomb free kick, but a defender made a goal line save. Wood collected the ball and rocketed a shot from the top of the box, but his shot sailed just over the crossbar to end the Lipscomb threat.
The remaining minutes of the half saw decent chances from both sides, but neither team could find the opener as the game was scoreless at halftime.
FGCU finally broke the stalemate in the 49' minute, finding the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Lipscomb's attack started heating up later in the second half and got a good look in the 68' minute when Spicer forced a save and
Ploutarchos Alonefti got a shot off on the rebound, but the shot skirted just wide of the far post as the Bisons continued searching.
Malachi Jones, a second half sub, got a good opportunity in the 71' minute when he dribbled up the right side and in the box through several defenders to get a shot off, but it was sent right to the keeper as Lipscomb stayed scoreless.
In the 89' minute, Lipscomb nearly got on the board when the ball was bouncing around in the box and a shot nearly went over the keeper's head, but a fingertip save put the ball over the crossbar.
Lipscomb was unable to find the equalizer and fell 1-0 to end a seven-match unbeaten streak.
