SCORING SUMMARY
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb had an early chance to take the lead when
Javanne Smith was taken down in the box in the 10' minute to earn Lipscomb a penalty kick, but the spot kick was saved by a diving Bellarmine keeper to keep the match scoreless.
Another scoring opportunity came for the Bisons in the 15' minute when
Louis Robinson rocketed a shot to force a Knights save. The rebound went out for a Lipscomb throw near the box and the resulting play ended with Alonefti burying the ball from just outside the six-yard box for a 1-0 lead.
The Bisons held the Knights to four shots, none of them big threats, through the final minutes of the first frame. Lipscomb controlled possession through the first half with nearly 60 percent of possession.
Killian Byrne was impressive in the attacking third in the opening minutes of the second half and rocketed a pair of shots in the 50' and 53' minutes that forced two really impressive saves by the Bellarmine keeper.
Hayes Wood had a good look at goal in the 60' minute when he rose for a header at the end of a cross, but his shot went just over the crossbar as Lipscomb stayed at a 1-0 advantage.
The Bisons continued to pressure Bellarmine's defense and
Noah Gulden had a go at goal in the 86' minute with a volley that forced the Knight' eighth save of the night.
Lipscomb's back line stayed tough through the waning minutes and completed the 1-0 shutout to end the regular season.
