SCORING SUMMARY
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb was on the front foot early and
Malachi Jones got a shot off not even a minute into the game, but the shot went just wide.
FGCU responded with an early chance of its own in the 5' minute, but
Michael Sibley came up with his first save of the night to keep the Eagles from netting an early strike.
The Bisons had a flurry of chances in the last half of the first frame with several good chances, but Lipscomb struggled to get on the end of the chances and the game was scoreless at the halftime break.
Jones had another good chance in the early goings of the second half with a shot in the 57' minute that forced another save. Much like the first half, the Bisons created many great chances in the second half, but struggled to get the final finish.
The match would head to overtime for the first overtime match of the season.
In the first overtime period, Jones and
Hayes Wood both had great chances, but again struggled to find the back of the net.
The game-winner came in the 108' minute when the Bisons broke down the FGCU defense and
Luca Naumann found some space and rocketed a right-footed shot from 20-yards out that squeezed inside the far post for a 1-0 lead.
Lipscomb held FGCU without a goal for the final two minutes of the match and advanced to the ASUN Championship with a 1-0 victory.
