Volleyball Welcomes Defensive Specialist Ella McAllister

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Lipscomb volleyball head coach Brandon Rosenthal announced Friday the addition of 5' 6" defensive specialist/libero Ella McAllister to their 2023-24 roster.

"I chose Lipscomb for their unsurpassed academic and athletic programs. The minute I stepped on campus it felt like home," McAllister said. "I'm excited to go to work with an amazing group of girls and the best coaching staff around."

A three-sport athlete, McAllister joins the Herd from Marshall, Mich. where she prepped at Marshall High School playing volleyball, soccer, and basketball. As a libero, she recorded 459 digs at a clip of 5.01 digs per set. As team captain, she helped lead the squad to a 33-8 record and their third consecutive district championship in her final season.

"I would like to thank all my coaches, my teammates, my family, and God, who gave me the opportunity to play at the next level," McAllister finished.

McAllister lists her favorite volleyball memory as making a comeback in the regional semi-final to come back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Lansing Catholic. For her contributions on the court, McAllister was the only libero in the top-10 finalists for the Michigan Miss Volleyball, awarded to the top volleyball player in the state.

McAllister was named Team All-State in the 2021 season as well as being a two-time All-Region selection. She is furthermore a three-time AVCA Phenom Watch List selection and a three-time Enquirer All-Area selection.

"We are very excited with the addition of Ella McAllister. She is an exciting player that plays with an energy that is truly impressive," said head coach Brandon Rosenthal. "She is a tireless defender that has a lot of range. Throughout the recruiting process I have been impressed by her on and off the court presence."

"I believe that Ella joining the 2023 class that also includes Brooklyn Fuchs and Ninah Miranda will only continue a strong youth movement that we have seen from LUV over the past couple years," Rosenthal continued. "All three will be great additions to a team that continued to shine as the season progressed and gained valuable experience."

"We are very excited with this 2023 class and have no doubt that Ella will be a great representative of what LUV is all about," Rosenthal finished.
