Lipscomb closed the 2022 calendar year with a big win over Tennessee Wesleyan behind a career afternoon from freshman guard Molly Heard who put in 24 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons wasted no time in the opening minutes, quickly getting off to an 13-0 advantage after a three-point basket from Blythe Pearson.
Pearson led the way for the Bisons in the opening quarter as she poured in nine points in the first 10 minutes.
The squad stretched their lead to 20 with 1:10 left in the first on a layup from Molly Heard.
Tennessee Wesleyan responded with a bucket to end the quarter with a 26-8 period ending.
After holding the Bulldogs to eight points in the opening quarter, TWU converted on some possessions early in the second to bring their deficit down to as little as 11.
However, Lipscomb closed the final 6:22 on a 18-8 run to take a commanding 24-point lead into halftime.
Jalyn Holcomb had her way in the quarter, sparking the run with seven-straight points.
The Bisons ran away with the contest in the third quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 32-9.
Molly Heard took over the period, putting in 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting helping stretch the Bisons lead to 47 at the end of the frame.
The lead was too much to surmount for the Bulldogs as Lipscomb ended the year on a high note with an 89-45 win at Allen Arena.
