
Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at Sea Best Intercollegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Including the fall season, Lipscomb women's golf recorded its sixth top-5 finish of the 2021-22 season on Tuesday after placing fifth overall in the Sea Best Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, Florida.
The Bisons posted a three-round total of 929 (+65) after firing team marks of 310, 308 and 311 at the San Jose Country Club. They finished five strokes ahead of No. 49 Coastal Carolina, giving the purple and gold it's first-ever finish over a top-50 program in school history.
Junior Ally Williams posted her second-best finish of the season, tying for sixth. Williams earned scores of 76-75-77 for a 228 (+12). She carded six birdies and finished the week +5 on par-4 scoring, giving her the third-best average in the field at 4.17.
Siarra Stout also brought home a top-10 finish (T-10) with a three-round total of 230 (+14). She opened the Intercollegiate with the fifth-best total in round one, firing a two-over 74. After shooting a four-over on the back nine, Stout came back to finish 2-under on the front with birdies on the par-5 sixth and par-3 eighth. She tied for the team high with seven birdies on the week – six of which came on the front nine.
Mary Kate Smith gave the Bisons three top-20 finishes after carding a +18, 234. She opened with an 81 and 78 on the first day before climbing 16 spots in the final round with a +3, 75. After just one birdie in round one, Smith came back to card three birdies and an eagle in round two, and three more birdies on Tuesday.
TEAM NOTES
· Lipscomb's 3.35 average on par 3s was the third best scoring average in the 18-team field at +21.
· The Bisons also finished sixth on par-5 scoring (+14, 5.23) and seven on par-4 scoring (+68, 4.45).
· The purple and gold turned in the fifth-most pars in the tournament (137) and added 24 birdies. Smith's eagle in round two was one of just seven on the week.
· Stout finished the event at even par on par-3 scoring, the fourth-best mark of the field. She also finished at even par on par-5 scoring (9th).
· Williams led the team with 32 pars, while Lauren Thompson was just behind at 31.
· Smith and Stout led the team with seven birdies each.
