Stout wins individual title at Rivertowne Invitational, Bisons finish 4th

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Siarra Stout put together another great day on the links in the final 18 holes with her second straight 2-under par round to claim the individual crown by three strokes, as the Lipscomb women's golf team finished fourth overall in the Rivertowne Invitational hosted by Charleston Southern Tuesday afternoon.

It is the first individual title for the Bisons this season and the first since the 2018-19 season.

Entering the final round, Stout sat at even par behind rounds of 74 and 70. Through the first six holes on Tuesday, she had recorded five pars and one bogey before getting hot. She birdied the par-4, 15th and went four-under par over the next seven holes. That stretch included her second consecutive eagle at the par-5, 3rd hole en route to posting another 2-under par, 70 for a three-round total of 214.

Freshman Lauren Thompson finished the week tied for 18th after recording rounds of 78-77-74. On the final day, Thompson bogeyed three of her first five holes, but bounced back to shoot 1-under par through her final 13.

The pair of Ally Williams and Mary Kate Smith wrapped up the scoring for the Bisons as each tied for 21st with a three-round total of 230.

Williams posted scores of 79-73-78, while Smith turned in 79-74-77.

BISON NOTES

Lipscomb finished as the top par-5 scoring team of the 16 in the field with an 4.92 average. The team shot -4 on the week and was the only team under par.
The Bisons also finished as the second-best par-4 scoring squad with a +31 for a 4.26 average. Only Oral Roberts' 4.17 was better.
The Bisons finished with 135 pars and 20 birdies, but they did lead the field with four of the six eagles carded over three rounds. Stout recorded two of those.
The 214 was Stout's lowest 54-round total of the season by four strokes.
Stout collected her fourth top-10 finish of the season and her sixth top-20 in seven events.
Thompson posted her seventh top-20 finish in eight tournaments.
Williams and Smith each earned their fifth top-25 finish of the year.
