
Bisons secure first-round home game in ASUN Championship after senior day win over Central Arkansas

NASHVILLE – With ASUN Tournament seeding on the line, the Lipscomb men's basketball team was cold in the first half Saturday before turning the heat up after the break en route to defeating Central Arkansas 81-66 in the regular season finale in Allen Arena.
With the win, the Bisons (13-18, 6-10) secured the No. 4 seed in the West Division and earned a first-round home game against No. 5E North Florida Tuesday night in the ASUN Championship. Tip is set for 7 p.m. CT in Nashville.
Lipscomb shot just 29.7 percent from the floor in the first half and trailed 33-31 heading into the break. They made just 4-of-22 field goals over a 12-minute span in the half.
The only Bison who seemed to have his stoke early was freshman Trae Benham, who scored 16 points in the first half after hitting 4-of-6 from three-point range and 6-of-9 overall.
No other player had more than five points, while UCA shot 40 percent as a team.
The purple and gold came out with a different tune in the second half, torching the nets for a 62.9-percent clip after making 22-of-35 shots with six players score five or more points.
Two minutes into the period, the Bisons went on a stretch where they made eight straight shots and 13-of-16 over 10 minutes. They turned a four-point deficit into a 14-point advantage (63-49) in the run.
Benham's continued to make plays after halftime and scored 10 points in 12 minutes. Ahsan Asadullah led the team with 11 points in the second half.
The Bisons honored seniors Greg Jones and Parker Hazen in a pregame ceremony in front of 2,273 purple and gold fans. The duo has been a part of 96 wins at Lipscomb.

NOTES
- Benham led the team with a career high 26 points and eight rebounds. He made 10-of-17 shots overall and drained 6-of-12 deep shots. He is averaging 19.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game over his last three outings and has hit 11-of-22 threes in that stretch.
- Asadullah grabbed his 12th double-double of the year with 15 points, 10 rebounds and a team-high six dimes. He also blocked four shots and went 6-of-11 shooting.
- KJ Johnson scored 10 points, grabbed six boards and dished three assists off the bench.
- Greg Jones added 10 points and a career high five assists.
- Parker Hazen poured in eight points and snatched six boards, while Will Pruitt contributed six points, five rebounds and four assists.
- Lipscomb shot 46 percent overall (33-of-72) and made eight three-pointers.
- The Bisons only turned the ball over nine times, but scored 18 points off 13 UCA miscues.
- Lipscomb won the battle of the boards 31-27 and grabbed 13 offensive.
