Men’s Tennis Falters Against Georgia Southern Eagles

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb's men's tennis team faced off with Georgia Southern on Friday evening, going 2-5 against the Eagles. The match was highlighted by a three-set singles win from Maksim Bogdanovich.

The Bisons began the match with an impressive showing from the doubles pairings to start the match.

Junior Alex Mesquida and graduate student Sam Fischer competed at the No. 2 position for the Bisons and collected their first victory of the day in a 6-0 sweep of their Eagles foes.

Gonzalo Garcia-Nieto and Pedro Uribe worked together on court one to secure the doubles point for the Bisons, going 6-4 to decide the point. Court three played out their match and despite a strong fight from Luka Stojanovic and Maksim Bogdanovich, the match went to Georgia Southern (7-6 (8-6)).

In singles play, the Eagles collected two quick victories on courts two and three over Uribe and Garcia-Nieto respectively (3-6,1-6 and 2-6, 5-7). Bogdanovich brought things even for the Bisons on court one with a three-set victory, battling against his Georgia Southern opponent to win 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.

The Eagles responded with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 5 position over sophomore Stojanovic. Court four finished next and after a tight match Mesquida fell to his Georgia Southern adversary 3-6, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7) to clinch the match for the Eagles.

The Bisons will be back in action Friday, March 11th when they hit the road to face the Southern Conference's ETSU.
