THE SHORT STORY: Will Pruitt finished with a career-high 22 points and Ahsan Asadullah posted his eighth double-double of the season, but it wasn't enough as Lipscomb fell 71-77 to Stetson Thursday night in Allen Arena in ASUN Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first minutes were a back-and-forth affair from the opening tip. Stetson made the first bucket, but the Bisons responded well. The squads traded buckets for the first minutes of the game, but a Greg Jones triple gave Lipscomb an 11-8 lead at the first media timeout.

The Hatters scored a pair from the line out of the break, but Will Pruitt took over for the Bisons scoring five-straight to give Lipscomb a four-point (16-12) advantage. Stetson, however, responded with a sustained 14-0 run over nearly six minutes to jump out to a 26-16 lead at the under eight media timeout.

Lipscomb finally stopped the bleeding from the charity stripe when Greg Jones converted on a technical foul shot and Ahsan Asadullah connected on a free throw to shave the deficit back to 10-points. After nearly seven minutes without a field goal, Trae Benham snapped the drought with a pull up jumper in the paint to begin to chip away at the lead. The next trip down the floor, Will Pruitt splashed a three-pointer, forcing a Stetson timeout as the Hatters saw its lead dwindle to 26-23 with 4:25 in the half.

Benham continued to dominate offensively for the Bisons scoring five points in two possessions to put Lipscomb back in front 28-26. Stetson punched back with five quick points, but Benham continued to shine and drove to the basket for the final points of the half. Lipscomb trailed by the narrowest of margins, 30-31, at the halftime break.

In the first 20 minutes, Pruitt led the way with 10 points while Benham was right behind him with nine points. Shooting was nearly dead even in the first half as Lipscomb shot 40 percent from the floor to Stetson's 39 percent, but the Bisons shot 29 percent from behind the arc and held the Hatters to 19 percent.

Stetson came out of the locker room on fire and went on a quick 12-4 run to jump back out to a 43-34 lead, forcing a Lipscomb timeout. The Hatters continued its second big run of the game, stretching it to a 19-2 run over nearly six minutes.

Jacob Ognacevic snapped a lengthy scoring drought for the Bisons with a triple as Lipscomb trailed 37-50 with just under 12-minutes to play. He continued to be a spark for Lipscomb when he drove the basket for another bucket on the next possession.
After eventually falling to a 15-point deficit, the Bisons were able to chip away at the lead thanks in part to seven points from Pruitt, and tightened things up 54-65 with just over four minutes left in the game.

The Bisons continued to chip away and with the help of a pair 3-pointers by Pruitt, a triple from Jones and a pair of foul shots from Asadullah, Lipscomb got things within a possession (67-64) with 1:35 left. During the 15-2 Lipscomb run, the Bisons held Stetson without a field goal in nearly five minutes.

Out of the final media timeout, Stetson settled down the Lipscomb crowd with a three pointer close to the end of the shot clock for a 70-64 lead with 1:12 left in regulation. Asadullah scored his 13th point of the night on the Bisons end of the floor for a 66-70 ballgame with 47 seconds remaining.

In the final minute of the game, the squad's exchanged fouls as Lipscomb tried to claw back. Benham gave Lipscomb hope when he drove the basket and converted an old-fashioned three-point play to make things 71-74, but Stetson sealed the win by converting its rebounds down the stretch for a 77-71 victory.
