THE SHORT STORY
 
Lipscomb Baseball dropped a 10-1 decision to Jacksonville State Friday afternoon to start ASUN play. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
 
Lipscomb took a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Maddux Houghton hammered a one-out double for an early runner in scoring position. Mason Lundgrin pushed the run across home plate when he singled through the right side. Malik Williams got the third hit of the inning with a single to center field, but both runners were stranded as the Bisons took a 1-0 lead to the second inning. 
 
Jacksonville State surged to the lead in the top of the second, scoring five runs for a 5-1 lead. The Bisons offense quieted down in the bottom of the second and the Gamecocks continued to take advantage with another run in the top of the third for a 6-1 lead. 
 
Patrick Williams took over in relief in the top of the third and worked three innings. He made quick work of the Gamecocks, facing the minimum, allowing just one hit and allowed no walks. 
 
Lipscomb continued to struggle on the offensive end and Jacksonville State scored in each of the final three innings as the Bisons fell 10-1.
