Bisons Drop ASUN Play Opening Match to UCA Bears

Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb's women's tennis team opened ASUN play with a home match against the Central Arkansas Bears on Friday afternoon. The Bears were firing on all cylinders and the Bisons fell 0-7 in their first conference match.

Representing the Bisons at the No. 1 position, partners Kate Popova and Anja Trbeznik ended in an unfinished 4-5 match with their UCA foes when the point was decided on courts two and three.

At the No. 2 spot, Maddox Bandy and Sasha Dobranos fell 4-6 to their opponents while Liza Diachenko and Eleanor Chapman fell 0-6 to their Bears contestants on court three.

Central Arkansas continued to dominate in singles play, beginning with a 3-6, 2-6 defeat on court one for Dobranos. Popova represented Lipscomb at the No. 2 position and fell in a three-set match to her foe (5-7, 6-2, 2-6).

Emma Zakordoniec took the No. 3 spot for the Bisons, falling 6-7 (4-7), 1-6 to her opponent while Trbeznik fell 5-7, 4-6 to her court four competitor.

The Bisons' struggles continued on the lower courts where Diachenko fell 3-6, 5-7 on court five and Bandy fell 2-6, 5-7 at the No. 6 position to cement the Bears' shutout.
