Women’s Tennis Drops Two On Road Trip In Memphis

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Bisons hit the road this weekend as they travelled to Memphis, Tenn. to face off with the Memphis Tigers and the Miami of Ohio RedHawks. Lipscomb's women's tennis program dropped two over the weekend as they went 1-6 against the Tigers on Friday and 2-4 against the RedHawks on Saturday.

Lipscomb 1, Memphis 6

The Bisons' Friday match against the Tigers began with the doubles point going to the Tigers. Kate Popova and Anja Trbeznik partnered on court one where they fell 3-6 to their Memphis foes.

The No. 3 position was occupied by Liza Diachenko and Emma Zakordoniec who fell 2-6 to their own opponents. Sasha Dobranos and Maddox Bandy's match on court two went unfinished with the Bisons up 5-4.

The Tigers dominated singles play, with wins on courts one, three, four, five, and six. Kate Popova recorded the lone singles point for the Bisons, going 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 2 position to secure her fifth singles win of the season.

Lipscomb 2, Miami (OH) 4

Lipscomb bounced back in their doubles play against the RedHawks on Saturday, securing the opening point of the match with wins on courts one and three. On the top court, Kate Popova and Anja Trbeznik took down their foes 6-4 while Perri Howard and Liza Dianchenko defeated their RedHawk opponents 6-3.

Diachenko notched a point on court five with a two-set victory, going 6-3, 6-0 to notch her third singles win of the season. Maddox Bandy recorded the Bisons' second point of the match in a three-set battle with her Miami adversary (6-1, 2-6, 7-3).

The RedHawks took the points up for grabs on the top four courts to secure the match, besting the Bisons in two sets on every court except for two. Popova battled with her opponent in a three-set struggle before ultimately falling 1-6, 6-0, 5-7 to her opponent.
