Men's Golf finishes 13th at Desert Mountain Collegiate

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Lipscomb men's golf shot a 12-over 300 in Sunday's final action of the Desert Mountain Collegiate to finish 13th at 42-over 906 (291-315-300).

The day started with each team on the course early to complete the second round after play had been suspended on Saturday due to the darkness.

Alejandro Rodriguez had a top-25 performance, finishing seven-over par with a 223 (72-76-75) to lead the Bisons. Will Holan carded a three-over 75 in Sunday's action. He finished tied for 46th with a 12-over 228 (71-82-75).

Ford Goldasich tied for 52nd following a 13-over 229 (71-82-76), while Austin Aliff had the low round of the day for the Bisons, shooting two-over 74. He recorded six birdies and six pars on the day and finished the event tied for 64th with a 15-over 231 (79-78-74).
Jason Hong tied for 74th with a 19-over 235 (77-79-79), while individual Gregor McKenzie tied for 68th. He fired a two-day total of 16-over 232 (77-79-76).

The windy conditions made it hard on all 16 teams, as none of the teams finished the event under-par. Host Michigan made a late push with the field's best number in the final round (284). They shot nine-over 873 (289-300-284), four strokes ahead of No. 37 UAB and Little Rock.

"I'm proud of the fight of this team this week," head coach Will Brewer said "It was another week of one good round and the other two we struggled a bit in a few areas. We didn't handle the  cold and windy conditions in the second round and it seemed we were a bit flat or tired during the final round.

"This team continues to show elements of being a strong team however, we must putt better and have smaller misses especially on firm fast desert courses. We will take Monday off and practice on skill work this week prior to competing in the Louisiana Classic March 14th & 15th."

NOTES
  • The Bisons finished the event with 141 pars, 39 birdies and two eagles.
  • Rodriguez tied for sixth overall with 34 pars and Jason Hong finished second on the team with 31.
  • Aliff and Holan paced the Bisons with 10 birdies each, while Goldasich and Rodriguez each carded one eagle.
