La Quinta, Calif. – Lipscomb Men's Golf competed at The Prestige, finishing 18
th in a loaded field of 24 teams. The field includes nine top-50 teams and three top-30 teams.
The Bisons were competitive in the first round, sitting tied for 13
th through 18 holes of play, shooting a (+8) on the round. Round two saw the Bisons battle in intensely windy conditions with sustained winds of 30-40 MPH through the final four holes of play. Lipscomb was holding strong in the round, but went (+12) over the final four holes of the round in the wind to finish (+22) on the day, dropping to 18
th with a combined score of (+30). Due to ongoing windy conditions that persisted through Wednesday, the final round was cancelled, as Lipscomb finished 18
th.
Maxi Klaus had a solid opening two rounds, shooting a 73 and 76 in the first two rounds, respectively. In his first round, he connected on three birdies and 10 pars, while he had one birdie and 11 pars in round two. All told, he finished tied for 62nd at (+7) to lead the Bisons.
Minas Manias saw the best first round for the Bisons, shooting a 72 with three birdies and 11 pars on Monday to sit at (+1). He stayed in the top half of the field after the second round of play, after carding a 78 for an overall score of (+8) to finish tied for 66th.
Rio Saigal finished just behind Manias with a (+9) overall. In his first round, he carded a 74 with a pair of birdies and 12 pars. He finished his outing with a 77 in round two with a solid 14 pars. All told, he finished at (+9), tied for 83rd.
Ciaran Murphy and
Toby Bishop rounded things out for the Bisons. Murphy started off with an 80 in the first round, but heated up with the Bisons' best second round after carding a 75. All told, he connected on a pair of birdies and 22 pars for a (+13), tied for 105th. Bishop scored an 81 and 83 in the first and second rounds, respectively, to finish at (+14), tied for 110th.
The Bisons will be back on the course March 1-2 at the Sam Ryder Invitational hosted by Stetson.
