Men’s Tennis Drops Two on the Road

FORT MYERS, Fla./KENNESAW, Ga. – Lipscomb's men's tennis team hit the road for their second conference road trip this weekend to face FGCU and Kennesaw State. The Bisons fell to the Eagles 0-7 on Friday and were blanked by the Owls on Sunday.

Lipscomb's Friday match began with FGCU taking the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Gonzalo Garcia-Nieto and Pedro Uribe competed at the top spot where they fell 4-6 to their opponents.
 
Court three was occupied by the duo of David Skrabut and Luka Stojanovic who fell 4-6 to their own Eagles foes. Alex Mesquida and Sam Fischer teamed up on court two, but their match went unfinished at 5-4 when the Eagles claimed the doubles point.
 
Singles play for the match saw the Bisons fall in two set matches to their adversaries. Alex Mesquida put up a strong fight in the first set of his match on court two before falling 2-6 to his competitor in the second (6-7(1-7), 2-6).

The Bisons next traveled to Kennesaw, Ga. where they faced off with Kennesaw State. The Owls took the opening point of the match with their doubles play at the No. 1 and 3 positions.
 
The duo of Stojanovic and Skrabut occupied court three for the Bisons where they fell 2-6 to their foes. Garcia-Nieto and Uribe partnered up once more to compete for Lipscomb on court one. The duo battled with their Owls opponents before falling 4-6.
 
Fischer and Mesquida teamed up on court two; however, their match was halted at 3-5 as the Owls secured the doubles point with their win on court one.
 
The squad struggled in singles play as the Owls claimed six points to secure their victory. Two Bisons fell in tight matches as Pedro Uribe pushed his opponent to a tiebreaker in the first set before his ultimate defeat (6-7(4-7), 4-6).
Gonzalo Garcia-Nieto held his adversary to a tight 5-7 finish for their first match at the No. 4 position before he fell 1-6 in the second.
 
UP NEXT
The squad will be back in Nashville, Tenn. on Saturday, April 16th at 2:00pm when they host their senior day against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks.
