THE SHORT STORY

After trailing by as much as eight in the fourth quarter, the Bisons stormed back to steal a win from North Alabama on the road 73-69.

With the win, Coach Sumski's squad has eclipsed their win total from last season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bisons have made their mark consistently on the defensive end this season and showed that identity in the early moments of the game.

Lipscomb struggled early to put the ball in the basket but their defensive pressure kept them in it.

Jalyn Holcomb got the Bisons going on a layup inside with 5:02 to go in the first.

Just over a minute later, Bella Vinson took it to the hoop and finished with a crafty euro step to give the Bisons their first lead.
The defensive slugfest continued until the final horn of the first quarter as UNA held a 13-11 advantage after one.

The Lions knocked down two threes early in the second quarter forcing a timeout by the Bisons as they quickly jumped up to a six-point advantage.

Claira McGowan stopped the short UNA run with a trailing three pointer from the wing.

Lipscomb began to get some shots to connect to cut their deficit with a Blythe Pearson three-pointer and then a jumper by Bella Vinson to tie the contest with 4:13 left in the first half.

UNA flipped the momentum with a 7-0 stretch, pushing their lead back out to seven.

Back-to-back turnovers by the Bisons helped UNA get two easy buckets in transition guiding the run.

Bella Vinson continued to come through for the Bisons like she has all season long as she buried a three ball at the top of the key.

Vinson later connected on a deep three ball as the buzzer sounded to chop the Lions lead to one (29-30) at halftime.

Vinson led all scorers with 12 in the first half. McGowan put in seven points in the first half as well.

The squad wasted no times taking back the lead in third with a perfectly executed play call resulting in a back door layup by Vinson as she was fouled.
Each teams traded leads for the early part of the quarter, putting in three-pointers.

UNA stretched their lead back out to six on an and-one layup plus the free throw with 5:56 to go.

The Lions continued to knock down triples to stretch their lead to as much as eight in the quarter.

However, the Bisons closed the quarter on 16-6 run, including a three-pointer from Holcomb, which was assisted by Ainhoa Cea, that stretched the lead to six forcing a UNA timeout.
Despite the massive run, the squads entered the fourth tied at 57.

UNA opened the fourth with the first eight points, but the Bisons never wavered.

Lipscomb battle back again with an 8-0 run of their own to tie the game

The team defensive tenacity sparked the run. Lipscomb forced two shot-clock violations and several tough offensive possessions for UNA down the stretch.

Lipscomb shot 60% from the floor in the fourth quarter, several coming inside the painted area.

The Bisons held the Lions to 25% shooting in the fourth quarter, the lowest percentage of any quarter by either team in the game.

After Vinson tied the game with a layup inside, Claira got a layup to go as the shot clock expired to take a two-point lead with 2:24 remaining.

UNA converted on the next possession but Pearson knifed through the lane for two to take back the lead.

The squad proceeded to get a stop defensively, forcing the Lions to foul.

Claira McGowen converted on both free throw attempts with seven seconds remaining to tie the bow on the squad's fifth ASUN win this season.
