THE SHORT STORY
Lipscomb improved to 3-0 in ASUN play after a high scoring second quarter guided them to a victory on the road against North Florida 69-63.
HOW IT HAPPENED
North Florida hit some shots early, going 9-of-19 from the floor in the first quarter. They did most of their damage inside the painted area as their forwards managed get to some looks under the basket.
The Bisons were able keep their end of the quarter deficit at just four because of some buckets later in the frame to trail 19-15 after one.
Lipscomb took over in the second quarter with a 25-point outing, while holding the Ospreys to just 10.
The Purple and Gold held North Florida scoreless for nearly five minutes in the period and went on a 19-0 run to blow the game open.
Blythe Pearson caught fire in the quarter, putting in 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting and a perfect 2-of-2 from deep.
Lipscomb's run helped them hold a 40-29 advantage at halftime.
The squad stretched their lead to as much as 21 in the third quarter, due in part to their defensive effort, holding UNF to 12 points and 26.3% shooting from the floor.
Senior guard Jalyn Holcomb highlighted the quarter as she put in a three-ball with 6:37 on the clock which put her over the 1,000-point mark for her career.
North Florida gained life in the final quarter, sparked by an 8-0 run midway through the fourth, which got the crowd back into it.
They would eventually cut the Bisons lead down to as little as three, but the squad was able to hold off the Osprey's late push to claim their fourth straight win.
